Algorithmic Bias Questions

  1. Where do we see examples of algorithmic bias around us?

  • We see Algorithmic Bias around us in our jobs, in our schools, in politics, it could be in many jobs or workplaces you can think of like also maybe the police station.

  1. Had you heard of any of these examples?

  • I’ve seen this in school, I’ve seen it in workplaces, especially on the news as it pertains to politics.

  1. Does this change our perception of computers (infallibility, certainty, etc)?

  • No, it really doesn’t. One thing we have to realize is that we make, control, program these computers to do what they do. There wouldn’t be any high-tech that we have today if we didn’t have any ideas on technology. We control these things. I believe that we use technology for some things we really don’t need them for. If we get out of control with these advancements of technology, soo, these computers or technology will rule us.

  1. How can we use awareness of this issue to make better choices, decisions, or share?

  • Another thing we have to realize also is that computers are literally taking people’s jobs. All of a sudden, there is less need for human help and gratitude. It’s common for people to protest, and go on strike, and they usually get the job done right, so I believe that is one way to raise awareness. It could get people in authority’s attention, and think.
